Woody Strode(July 25, 1914 – December 31, 1994)
Woody Strode - was as a Football star and hailed Decathlete, integrating and playing for the National Football League as a rookie for the Los Angeles Rams during 1946 and the Canadian Football League from 1946 to 1949.Strode was a dedicated martial arts student and began his training in Seishindo Karate in 1976 under the direction of Frank Argelander (aka Frank Landers).Landers married Strode's daughter Junelehua Kalaeloa Strode in 1979 and have a daughter named Luukia Argelander.Strode used his Seishindo Kenpo training in several movies, one of which starred Martial Artist Joe Lewis; "Jaguar Lives". Strode played "Sensei", Jaguar's side kick in the movie. Strode's martial arts training continued with Frank Landers through the development of Seishindo Kenpo, the art Strode carried with him until his death.Woody Strode and Frank Landers appeared in Fighting Stars Magazine July 1978 discussing Strode's training in Kenpo. |

Dana MacKayAmerica’s First Elvis Impersonator(1958 – October 30, 1993) Dana MacKay - Was a successful Elvis Presley impersonator, singer, performer and actor, also refered to as “America’s First Elvis Impersonator".In August 1978, Dana and Frank Argelander would meet and become instant friends. Dana relocated from Fresno Ca. to Southern Ca. to be managed by Argelander and train in the art of Seishindo Karate.In 1979 Argelander introduced Dana to TV icon Dick Clark who was producing a film called ELVIS. Mackay was selected along with Kurt Russell for the lead of Elvis Presely. Russell would win out over MacKay, producers citing MacKay's lack of experience and going with the established name actor, even thought Kurt Russell look nothing like Elvis Presley. |
